We must stand together
I’ve spent a lot of today thinking, and then avoiding social media. It’s been a tough day for many of us.
Today the US Supreme Court decided that people who have uteruses don’t get to have a say over their own bodies. They left it up to the states, and over half of them are already, or are shortly expected to, make abortion illegal.
The Supreme Court decision made it clear that this is just the first round. They are inviting people to challenge cases that allow easier access to contraception, and legalize same sex relationships and marriages.
We have to stand together – cis, trans, non-binary – whatever your gender is.
Let’s remember the quote from Martin Niemöller. They were talking about the Holocaust, but it’s a good reminder.
“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”
We must stand together. We must speak out.

Write to your local officials! You can fax your state and federal representatives.
FaxZero.com will allow you to fax many state and federal representatives for free, but physical letters work better.
Donate if you can to Planned Parenthood or your local group helping to fund abortions for individuals.
